she/her

Taylor Lucas has been a valuable member of the team of dietitians at Erica Leon Nutrition since she completed her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science at CUNY Hunter College. Taylor shares how she intends to use her passion for nutrition and community to make an impact as a registered dietitian!

“Food is often how we connect with our traditions, cultures, families, and even identities. That connection should be respected and honored.”

Taylor loves to share her passion for plant-centered, culturally competent nutrition therapy, particularly within the African American and Latinx communities. Taylor believes that even the smallest decisions can play a major role in the prevention and progression of chronic disease.

Taylor became passionate about nutrition when she made changes to her own eating habits and began to feel significantly better about her health, body, and overall wellness journey. Additionally, she’s witnessed a number of family members and loved ones struggle with chronic illness. She became empowered to help underserved minority populations gain access to vital nutritional knowledge and improve food access to aid in the prevention of many chronic Illnesses that many in these populations face.

Dietitians can make a difference in the public health sector, private practice, community outreach, specialized treatment, and so much more! Taylor loves learning about the impact a registered dietitian can have in the lives of their patients and clients, as she firmly believes incorporating cultural competence and cultural sensitivity is vital for effective nutrition therapy.

💙 Here’s a fun fact about Taylor! She is a beekeeper and recently got into mixed martial arts!
