Taylor Lucas, a CUNY Hunter graduate and Master’s in Nutritional Science recipient, shares how she intends to use her passion for nutrition and community to make an impact as a registered dietitian!
"As a future registered dietitian, I intend to share my passion for plant-centered, culturally competent nutrition therapy, particularly with BIPOC adults and adolescents.
I believe that even small changes influence the relationship between one's body and food culture, and can help prevent the progression of chronic illness, especially within many underserved BIPOC communities. Understanding and healing the ever-changing relationship with food should be accessible to everyone."
Taylor became passionate about nutrition when she made changes to her own eating habits and began to feel significantly better about her health, body, and overall wellness journey. Additionally, she’s witnessed a number of family members and loved ones struggle with their own body image, disordered eating habits, and chronic illness. She is empowered to help underserved minority populations gain access to crucial nutrition education, treatment, and improved food access to help prevent nutrition-related conditions that many in these communities face.
Here's a fun fact about Taylor! She is a beekeeper and recently got into mixed martial arts!
