Diana specializes in working with clients with eating disorders, is certified as an Intuitive Eating Counselor, and is also certified as a Nutrition Support Clinician with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN).
“I’m an anti-diet and intuitive eating dietitian because I have seen the harm that so many people have gone through via diet culture and want to create a space for individuals who not only have eating disorders or disordered eating but for those who have been impacted by the messages that they have grown up with and have damaged their relationship with food.”
Diana became a dietitian because she has always loved the relationship, science, and psychology between food and people. Diana started in the fields of culinary and food science but really missed being able to communicate that knowledge, so the field of dietetics was a perfect fit. Diana began her nutrition career at a young age as she loved cooking and was often the chef in her own family kitchen. She pursued this professionally by attending the Culinary Institute of America. She then attended Cornell University to further her interest in food science and nutrition.
Upon graduating, she landed a job at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company in product development. There, she created new chocolate flavors that are still on the shelves today! While working with chocolate every day was fun and exciting, she felt that helping people through food would be more fulfilling.
Diana then pursued a master’s degree in nutrition at Columbia University to become a registered dietitian. Diana has discovered a passion for working with clients struggling with eating disorders through her work as a recovery coach at Monte Nido & Affiliates, and with Erica Leon Nutrition.
Now that Diana is a registered dietitian, she works to incorporate recipes, cooking, and meal planning into her counseling sessions to help spark the joy of cooking in all of her clients. Diana has partnered with Erica to write a cookbook called “Recipes for Recovery: Food Freedom from Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating.”
She also provides meal support for individuals over the age of 18, who are looking to have additional group support.
💙 Fun fact about Diana: “I love to play the piano and I’m a total cat lady!”
