With the utmost respect and dignity for how difficult it is to make that first appointment, the initial visit(s) is a time to determine relevant nutrition, behavior and medical information from you. We will identify realistic weight and health goals. We become partners in determining the best path moving forward.
Follow-up treatment is highly personalized. We will review eating patterns and behaviors since the previous visit and identify areas to work on. Sessions may include review of food diaries and intake, weight, adjustment of menu plans, and continued goal setting. Nutrition education on foods/lifestyle changes for specific health issues will also be addressed. Intuitive eating strategies of honoring hunger and fullness are guiding principles.
Meal Support therapy provides clients with a safe and encouraging environment to address and process emotional reactions to food. Some of the issues addressed will include:
— Hunger/fullness levels
— Fast or slow eating behaviors and/or eating rituals
— Urges to restrict, binge or purge before, during or after a meal
— Confronting specific food fears
We understand how overwhelming it can be to plan, prepare and shop for balanced meals. We will accompany you to the supermarket and help you shop for groceries, teach you how to read food labels and prepare simple meals.
We will dine at a restaurant of your choice and practice reading a menu, selecting the meal and eating it mindfully. The goal is to help you feel comfortable dining out in any situation.
Initial and follow-up visits provide evidence-based dietary information and are personalized to your specific needs. During the initial visit we review your health and nutrition history, and determine your readiness to make changes.
Our work involves goal setting for realistic, specific and measurable changes. We will review and design sample menus, review shopping tips and meal preparation, as well as exercise guidelines for your health.

This work isn’t about body shaming or trying to be some version of “skinny” that isn’t true to you… it’s about honoring our bodies, listening to what they need, and finding creative ways to provide it.
